Aging Skin-Needs & Care Tips

We are talking about aging skin in the case of people over 45 years of age. Although the process of natural skin aging begins at the age of 25 and accelerates rapidly after the age of 30, our skin reaches actual maturity when we are about 45 years old. Of course, these are statistical data. Because the rate of skin aging is influenced not only by its age, but also by genetic predispositions, lifestyle and care.

Aging skin has the following characteristics:

  • is less and less elastic and firm,

  • mimic wrinkles appear on it, especially around the eyes and mouth,

  • the lack of elasticity is compounded by gravity, which causes the corners of the eyes, lips, cheeks and eyelids to droop,

  • the oval of the face becomes irregular, e.g. a second chin appears,

  • skin discoloration appears,

  • blood supply to the skin decreases, blood vessels become brittle, and as a result, capillaries dilate and burst,

  • the skin becomes dehydrated and dry, and the skin aging skin and therefore – rough, flaccid and thin,

The skin is hypoxic and poorly nourished, and therefore looks tired and lacking in natural radiance. The main needs of mature skin are nourishment, hydration, strengthening, regeneration and stimulation of cells to produce collagen and elastin.

What makes skin aging worse?

  • unhealthy diet,

  • Smoking

  • alcohol abuse,

  • air pollution

  • UVA and UVB radiation, tanning beds

  • wrong cleansing and care products

Aging skin care step by step tips

1.Cleansing

Refreshing the skin in the morning and thorough cleansing in the evening is the basis for the rest of the skincare steps. For cleansing aging skin, choose light, mild cosmetics that do not irritate or dry out, e.g. milks, gels, foams. And if you like stronger makeup, let's take care of cleansing in at least two stages. First, use a natural makeup remover, such as a make-up remover oil or make-up remover lotion, and then wash your face with a gel, milk or mild emulsion.

2.Regeneration

An important part of the care is regular exfoliation and stimulating the skin to regenerate. A product that is constantly present in our home care should be enzymatic or aha peeling, which will help cleanse the skin, exfoliate dead skin cells and accelerate regeneration, as well as a mask that will nourish the skin and strengthen its natural defense functions.

3.Toner

After each cleansing, the face should be toned, i.e. its natural pH should be restored. This is important, because thanks to this, the skin renews the hydrolipid film faster, which is degraded even during the mildest cleansing. In addition, the use of a toner makes the active ingredients from creams or serums penetrate faster and deeper.

4.Serum/cream

cream or serum mixed with cream. If you decide to apply these products separately, remember to wait a while for the serum to be absorbed before applying the cream. Let's not forget about the care of the eye area – in the case of mature skin, daily and regular use of eye cream is a must have.

5.Facial massage

To increase blood flow in the skin and oxygenate all its cells well, we can also regularly perform facial massage and yoga. The first home treatment involves massaging various parts of the face, making circular movements with your fingers. Yoga, on the other hand, is about stimulating circulation, moving muscles and making the skin more elastic with appropriate facial movements and the use of facial expressions. Massage and facial yoga can help you deal with with a double chin and skin that lacks elasticity, as long as we do it regularly.

Remember that the care and cosmetics we use for this purpose also have an impact on the condition of our skin. Well-groomed skin, even when its age is mature, usually looks much younger than it actually is.
