Menopause is a real revolution that is happening in the female body. How to remedy changes in appearance and deterioration of skin condition during this time? In today's post, I explain how the skin changes during menopause and what treatments in the office are worth using during this time.
During this period, the concentration of hormones: estrogen and progesterone drops rapidly, which causes very large changes in the woman's body, from weight gain to a rapid decrease in the amount of collagen in the skin, which results in its flaccidity. In addition, you can notice that during this time the skin becomes pale and dry – which is associated with a decrease in the amount of hyaluronic acid. We also often see the appearance of existing wrinkles and the formation of new ones. The dermis becomes thinner and thinner, resulting in addition to the lack of elasticity and flaccidity – blood vessels are visible. Telangiectasias and erythema appear, and rosacea often develops against them. The paradox is that on the one hand, erythema and capillaries are becoming more and more visible, and on the other hand, there are fewer and fewer vessels supplying nutrients and oxygen every year. The skin of a fifty-year-old woman has 50% fewer vessels than the skin of a twenty-year-old.
Menopause and skin care
There is no method or treatment that would help to completely avoid the changes that occur in the body in the peri- and postmenopausal period. These are processes controlled and regulated by hormones, the current balance of which is disturbed and changed. However, we can support the condition of the skin.
It is essential to take proper care of the skin with the use of high-quality products, the composition of which effectively stimulates repair processes in the skin. Skin care should be tailored to each stage of menopause. We will take care of skin density and improve the oval of the face before and during menopause differently, and we will approach the regeneration, nourishment and restoration of skin firmness in the postmenopausal period differently.
On a daily basis, it is necessary to provide antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E.
Regular moisturizing with creams is necessary, and it is worth remembering about collagen and vitamin D3 supplementation in the diet.
During menopause, the skin needs good, intensive care, strong hydration and nourishment. Vascular procedures will also be indicated during this period. In order to nourish them, I offer my patients in my Holistic Beauty & Cosmetology Atelier in Grantham - Japanese Lift Facial massage including MenoShe Phytocomplex Face Mask, microneedle mesotherapy and hyaluronic acid mesotherapy, which, when penetrated deep, brings excellent results, and when used systematically can effectively delay further aging processes. However, in order to thicken and oxygenate the skin, I recommend treatments that stimulate blood vessel renewal.
For this purpose, she uses a non-invasive treatment using sonophoresis and products recommended for this type of skin.
These few basic tips will ensure that not all side effects of menopause are as visible and bothersome as we imagine.
